Giancarlo Esposito’s crime drama ‘Parish’ has been canceled by AMC after just one season.
‘Parish’ premiered in March 2024, and the final episode aired in May, but AMC decided not to continue with a second season. “We are unfortunately unable to proceed with a second season, but season one will remain available on AMC+ to fans who want to relive this thrill ride of a series and those yet to discover it,” they wrote in a statement.
‘Parish’ followed Esposito’s Gracián ‘Gray’ Parish, a former getaway driver who was trying to live a peaceful life. Parish is pulled back into his old ways after his son’s tragic death and seeks revenge against the people responsible. The series is based on the BBC One show ‘The Driver,’ and it was created by Danny Brocklehurst.
The cast of Parish also included Zackary Momoh as a gangster from New Orleans, Paula Malcomson as Parish’s wife, Skeet Ulrich as Parish’s old friend Colin, and Ivan Mbakop as Zenzo, The Horse’s brother. The show did not perform well despite high expectations. It currently holds a 30% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and much of the criticism focuses on its writing.
‘Parish’ may be over, but Giancarlo Esposito has a long list of upcoming projects. He’s set to appear in ‘The Residence’ and ‘Poker Face,’ as well as ‘The Electric State,’ ‘The Long Home,’ ‘The Prince,’ and ‘Captain America: Brave New World.’
‘Parish’ remains available if you want to revisit it or discover it for the first time.
