Sony Pictures originally planned two more sequels and a ‘Sinister Six’ spinoff for Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man but after the disappointing performance of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2,’ canceled those plans.
A few years later, Garfield returned to the character in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ where he shared the screen with Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire. Given his experience with both versions, Vanity Fair recently asked him to pick his favorite Web Slinger.
“Tobey was my guy,” the actor admitted. “I was in drama school and I was watching his films as a young impressionable actor and I was like practicing being him. But I love; I think what Tom has done is incredible as well. Like, I kind of love them both equally.”
Please don’t ask Andrew Garfield to choose favorites (even though we did).

A new Spider-Man movie for Holland is currently in the works, with production expected to start in early 2025. There are rumors that Garfield might join fellow Spider-Men in the upcoming film and later return for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’
News is not official, but the actor is already open to reprising his superhero role again, according to an Esquire interview from last week: “For sure, I would 100 percent come back if it was the right thing, if it’s additive to the culture, if there’s a great concept or something that hasn’t been done before that’s unique and odd and exciting and that you can sink your teeth into.”
‘Spider-Man 4’ may hit theaters in 2026, likely between the releases of ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars.’ While Destin Daniel Cretton is set to direct the film,Robert Downey Jr. might return to share the screen with Holland.
