Anna Faris Says Her Return To ‘Scary Movie’ Franchise Depends On The Money

Anna Faris would come back for ‘Scary Movie,’ but she has some conditions.

In a recent interview with People, Anna Faris was asked what would convince her to join another ‘Scary Movie.’ The actress replied:

“Well, money!”

Faris also said she’d love to return to ‘Scary Movie’ if Regina Hall, her co-star and best friend in the film, also came back:

“I would love to work with Regina again. I just love her so much. We would make each other giggle all day long. Regina Hall would be my answer. And money. But mostly all Regina!”

The actress last played Cindy Campbell in ‘Scary Movie 4’ in 2006. In April, Paramount said they are working on a reboot of the series. Neal H. Moritz is producing and the filming will start later this year.

One Actor Already Wanted To Join The New Cast

The franchise, known for parodying popular horror films, previously starred Faris and Hall as breakout stars. The original and its sequels were directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans and David Zucker.

After the announcement, Melissa Barrera revealed that she is hoping to join ‘Scary Movie 6’ after being dropped from ‘Scream 7.’ She’s excited about the chance and thinks it would be a fun new start:

“I always loved those movies. When I saw it announced, I was like, ‘Oh, that would be fun. That would be so fun to do.’ […] I have this thing of never saying never to anything. I’m very open to the opportunities that come.”

Anna Faris’ Thoughts On The Franchise

Faris and Hall first appeared together in ‘Scary Movie’ in 2000 and returned for the next three sequels. They were not in ‘Scary Movie 5’ in 2013, which was the only film without them. Faris previously talked about the franchise:

“I love that franchise. It was like my bootcamp, my beginnings. If there is a high school comparison for my growth experience, those four movies played an important role in my life in terms of teaching me how to use props, teaching me how to fall, how to get hit in the head — how to hold Chiclets in my mouth and then spit them out with blood at a convenient time for the camera.”

Filming of the new ‘Scary Movie’ sequel is expected to start in Fall 2024, with a possible release in 2025. No cast or release date has been set yet.
