Academy Award-winning actor Anna Hathaway went to social media the other day to announce that her upcoming film ‘Locked Down‘ would hit HBO Max on January 14. While delivering the exciting news, Hathaway stated that she is sanguine regarding that the film, directed by Doug Liman and written by Steven Knight, will cheer the audiences up during these painful days.
By releasing the official poster for the film, that sees her with co-star Chiwetel Ejiofor, best known for his portrayal in ‘12 Years a Slave,’ Hathaway announced the news; it was obvious that Hathaway had mixed feelings while filling the caption section because of the ongoing coronavirus crisis all around the world and the US Capitol riots. She wrote:
“It feels strange to be promoting a movie – a comedy no less – during such unprecedented times… Please know I am reeling from the events of the last week just as you are. Just like you, I am trying to process what happened on top trying to find some kind of firm emotional footing in the quicksand of this pandemic…”
Hathaway then expressed that the film, which is “about two lost and messy humans finding the steel needed to fight for joy in their lives, even in the madness of the current moment,” reflects these times, full of losses. Golden Globe-winning artist added that she hopes her posting is seen as a part of the tradition that “the show must go on,” and continued:
“I also hope this film offers some relief by making you laugh and feel less alone during a time of so much pain and loss. #LockedDownFilm begins streaming on @HBOMax #Jan14.”
Despite Hathaway’s hesitation in promoting the film, focused on a jewelry heist amid the COVID-19 pandemic, her Industry friends left highly positive comments as soon as she had shared the post. Well-known comedian and actor Mindy Kaling, who is playing ‘Valerie’ in the film, starring also Lucy Boynton, Dulé Hill, Jazmyn Simon, Ben Stiller, and Ben Kingsley, wrote the following message as a comment:
“We need comedy! We need you and Chiwetel as a couple! We need Harrods robbery!”
