Academy Award-winning actress Anne Hathaway, who portrayed ‘The Grand High Witch’ in Robert Zemeckis’ upcoming movie, sent her respect to actress Anjelica Huston, representing the same character before her, in 1990.
Hathaway posted a series of snaps of Huston from the previous ‘The Witches’ movie, directed by Nicolas Roeg, and added the following note:
“Would you please take a moment to join me in celebrating Anjelica Huston’s flawless and iconic turn as The Grand High Witch?”
Then the ‘Alice in Wonderland’ star stated that she inspired by her while she was playing in 2020 dated ‘The Witches.’ The actress continued:
“Her performance is magnificent – witty, unforgettable, scary as hell and sheer perfection (the scene where she pushes the baby down the cliff still gives me chills to this day.) I just wanted to say, one AH to another, that I tip my wig to the O.G.G.H.W. Anjelica Huston. #WitchesAreReal #TheWitchesMovie”
Following the post, a good number of Instagram users, who had watched the 1990 dated movie, based on Roald Dahl’s novel of the same name, jumped into the comment section to pay tribute to Huston & her performance:
“Literally the most terrifying movie of my childhood because of her portrayal – she’s incredible!” wrote, Ashley Seller.
“Stills scare me !!!! What a performance!!!!” added, Ricardo Manning.
“She is amazing Adams family and Ever After! Oh my, I can’t wait to see how you portray this amazing role!” said, Jen Valles.
The upcoming dark fantasy comedy film written by Robert Zemeckis, Guillermo del Toro, and Kenya Barris would be available to stream on HBO Max, on October 22, 2020.
