Hollywood actor Anne Hathaway, who caused great controversy among the disabled community due to her portrayal in Robert Zemeckis‘ film ‘The Witches,’ took to his verified social media accounts in order to speak out about what is going on between Palestine and Israel.
On May 14, Hathaway, jumped into Instagram and issued a statement announcing that her heart is broken because of the violence in the city of Jerusalem. As many celebs, including Rihanna, Gigi, and Bella Hadid, and Alia Shawkat did, the well-known actor called out authorities duty.
Through her verified Instagram page, Hathaway posted a photo showing a statement that reads:
“It’s breaking my heart to see the terrible, escalating violence in Palestine and Israel, the bloodshed, the deaths, and the children killed.”
The star, who has been appointed as the UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, continued her message as follows:
“I join UN Women and all those calling for an immediate de-escalation of the conflict. Everyone has the right to live in peace and dignity.”
While the post received many likes from her fans and followers, a great number of users of the photo-sharing platform jumped into the comments section in order to “correct” her. A user, who find the actor’s wording is not proper for the situation, wrote the following comment underneath the photo:
“Not a conflict, but the ethnic cleansing of innocent Palestinians.”
According to the latest updates, 122 Palestinians, including 31 children, and eight Israelis died in the fighting so far.
