Apple TV+ decided to cancel ‘Time Bandits.’

‘Time Bandits’ premiered on Apple TV+ on July 24 with two episodes, followed by two new episodes every week until August 21. The first season had 10 episodes in total. As per Variety, Apple TV+ decided to cancel the show less than a month after the season ended.

The show was based on the 1981 cult classic film by Terry Gilliam. It follows a group of thieves who travel through time and space with an 11-year-old boy named Kevin (Kal-El Tuck) to steal valuable treasures. Lisa Kudrow also starred in the series alongside a large cast including Tadhg Murphy, Roger Jean Nsengiyumva, Charlyne Yi, Rune Temte, and others.

The series was created by Jemaine Clement, Iain Morris, and Taika Waititi. Clement and Morris were co-showrunners and directed several episodes. They also worked as executive producers along with Waititi, Garrett Basch, Jane Stanton, and Tim Coddington. The show was produced by Paramount TV Studios with Anonymous Content’s AC Studios and MRC Television.

In a previous interview, co-creator Iain Morris shared that ‘Time Bandits’ was a ‘lost classic’ that some people loved but others hadn’t heard of. He hoped that the series could introduce the story to a new audience.
