‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’s Dallas Liu Wants To Play Pyro In X-Men

He feels ready to take on another fire-based role after his time on ‘Avatar.’

Dallas Liu recently expressed his interest in playing Pyro in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) after ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender.’

Known for his role as Prince Zuko in Netflix’s live-action adaptation of ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender,’ Liu shifted his preferences towards another fiery character – Pyro. As per Nerdist, he said:

“Iceman is a good pick just because I felt like nobody wants to talk about him. But now I would have to say I’m fully Pyro. He’s so bad. So bad. I think it’s a lot easier to imagine fire in a fight scene versus ice. You don’t know exactly the shape of it, how fast it’s moving. So yeah, I’m fully just Team Fire in general. The color red, it’s good.”

Pyro, also known as John Allerdyce, is no stranger to moviegoers. He appeared in the MCU’s ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ trailer, portrayed once again by Aaron Stanford.

Liu isn’t Unfamiliar With MCU

Dallas Liu is already familiar with the MCU through his appearance in ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.’ In 2021, Liu initially voiced a desire to see his MCU character, Ruihua, evolve into the mutant Iceman.

Liu’s involvement in ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ has been a highlight of his career. The Netflix series, which premiered on February 22, 2024, is a live-action adaptation of the Nickelodeon animated show. It sees Liu star alongside Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio Tarbell, Ian Ousley, and Paul Sun-Hyung Lee.

In related news, the promotion of the ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ series saw tennis superstar Serena Williams channeling the Avatar State in a commercial that aired during the NBA All-Star Game. You can read the details here.
