Benedict Cumberbatch Has No Idea About ‘Doctor Strange’s Future: ‘I Know As Little As You’

The future of Doctor Strange and other Marvel heroes is unknown after recent changes announced by Marvel.

Disney and Marvel Studios announced they would release fewer films and TV shows to focus on quality during a recent meeting. Updates to the schedule and storyline are yet to be revealed, but there are rumors of third Doctor Strange film before the next ‘Avengers.’

Benedict Cumberbatch is not sure about the news, though. He recently told The Playlist:

“Who knows. We will see. We will find out. I’m not sure where he’s been and what he’s been up to and who with, but yeah, I know as little as you.”

Strange’s last appearance in ‘The Multiverse of Madness’ was delayed for release after 2021’s ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ The second film’s plot reportedly went through changes because of that. Cumberbatch shared on the matter:

“I was unaware of the articles. You’re part of a big machine, but you’re just trying to solve the problems on a set like any other job. And, yeah, it’s a massive sand pit to play in with very big and expensive, breakable toys. But you can only really do that if you’re loose and free and just doing your work as an actor. So, I kind of knuckled down and did that.”

There’s Another Hero Whose Fate Is Unknown At The Moment

Meanwhile, Chris Pratt talked about his future as Star-Lord in the MCU during a chat with IGN. DC Studios’ James Gunn left the Marvel franchise after ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,’ but a post-credits scene hinted at more of Peter Quill in upcoming projects.

Pratt spoke of the possibility:

“It’s hard to imagine what that would look like, so I guess I’d just have to take it on a case-by-case basis. Of course I’d be open to it. I love the character. It changed my life. If it came along and it made sense and I felt like it was a story worth telling, then I’d certainly, certainly be open to it. I love playing Star-Lord.”

His words went on:

“But it’d be tough to do without James, and you’d have to find an apparatus by which to maintain the tone that he so expertly creates, and it’s kind of hard because he’s truly one of a kind. And it would have to be with his blessing, so we’ll see.”

Star-Lord parted with the Guardians to return home in the last film while Doctor Strange left Earth seemingly to stop an Incursion with Clea.
