Blue Beetle’s Xolo Maridueña Changes Sides From DC To Marvel

Switching superhero worlds, Maridueña joins the Marvel family.

Making a new career move, Xolo Maridueña is now venturing into the Marvel Universe. As reported by Comicbook.com, Disney Branded Television announced that Maridueña joined the cast of the animated series ‘Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur’ for its second season.

Maridueña first rose to prominence with his portrayal in ‘Cobra Kai’ before making a splash in the superhero genre with DC’s ‘Blue Beetle.’ This was also his first major feature film. Now, the young actor takes on a new challenge in the Marvel Universe. He is among more than a dozen guest stars lending their voices to the second season of ‘Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.’

He is also slated to reprise his role as Jaime Reyes in the forthcoming rebooted DC Universe (DCU) franchise.

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur‘ follows the adventures of a 13-year-old super-genius, Lunella Lafayette (voiced by Diamond White), and her T-Rex companion as they protect her Lower East Side neighborhood. The second season is set to delve deeper into Lunella’s life as she tries to balance her superhero responsibilities with personal challenges.

Developed by Steve Loter, Jeffrey M. Howard, and Kate Kondell for Disney Channel, the series is based on the Marvel Comics characters of the same names. The show premiered on February 10, 2023, and it has already secured several Emmy Awards. ‘Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur’ will be returning to screens on February 2, 2024.

Alongside Maridueña, the new season has impressive guest stars, including Jonathan Banks, Cynthia Erivo, Giancarlo Esposito, Andy Garcia, and others. The series also features returning stars such as Alfre Woodard, Sasheer Zamata, Jermaine Fowler, and Laurence Fishburne, who doubles as an executive producer.
