During a Q&A session at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, Bradley Cooper shared his emotional connection to Rocket Raccoon, revealing he shed tears when he learned about the character’s backstory.
Expressing his deep connection with the character, Cooper admitted that learning about Rocket’s origin story for the third installment of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ moved him to tears:
“I love Rocket Raccoon so much. And I love doing that third one because [that’s] when James Gunn told me what was going to be the origin story. I just got so excited that I cried a lot.”
He then praised director Gunn for creating an enjoyable working atmosphere and likened their collaboration to performing in a play:
“It’s the greatest, and James is wonderful, and we would do it like a play, actually. And we were trying to figure out how best to do it because I do the voice after the movie’s already been shot, and first they would show scenes, and then eventually James would just read all the other parts, and we would do it like a play, and it was actually really fun.”
At the Santa Barbara Film Festival, Cooper was also honored as the outstanding performer of the year for his role in ‘Maestro.’

Although many of the cast members wanted the series to continue, Gunn confirmed it’s his last ‘Guardians’ film.
