Michelle Trachtenberg recently addressed criticisms over her appearance that surfaced on social media. The 38-year-old actress engaged in a direct conversation with fans to respond to negative comments about her looks.
It all began following a post shared by Trachtenberg, showing her and ‘Spy Kids’ star Alexa PenaVega at a salon. The caption, light-hearted in tone, celebrated their transition from childhood stars to adults. However, this post quickly attracted comments from social media users, with one asking if Trachtenberg was unwell due to her appearance:
“Michelle, you look sick. Are you okay?”
Trachtenberg’s response was swift and pointed. She questioned the reason behind the comment, saying:
“Explain to me how I look sick. Did you lose a calendar and not realize I’m not 14? I’m 38. How sad for you to leave such a comment.”
Upon seeing the actress’ response, the fan responded:
“No disrespect. My comment was really not to hurt you. I look up to you. It has nothing to do with your age. I just find that you look pale and sick. Sorry if I offended you; it was not my intention.”
Despite the original commenter’s efforts to explain that their remark was out of concern and not meant to be disrespectful, the conversation continued to focus on Trachtenberg’s health and appearance. Many of her fans expressed worry over the color of her eyes, suggesting potential health issues like liver failure:
“Wait a minute. Do you have hepatitis or liver failure? Does anyone else see the yellow eyes? Seek a doctor’s appointment!”

Trachtenberg’s Response to the Criticism
In a subsequent post, Trachtenberg addressed these speculations head-on. She confirmed that she has never undergone plastic surgery and reassured fans of her health and happiness:
“I’ve received several comments recently about my appearance. I have never had plastic surgery. I am happy and healthy. Check yourself, haters.”
Trachtenberg is not alone in facing such scrutiny. Jennifer Love Hewitt, another actress, recently spoke about the challenges of aging in Hollywood and dealing with public perception after posting a makeup-free selfie.
Throughout her career, Trachtenberg has garnered acclaim for her performances, notably in ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer,’ where she played Dawn Summers from 2000 to 2003. Her role earned her a Young Artist Award and three Saturn Award nominations. More recently, Trachtenberg has been seen in ‘Gossip Girl’ and ‘Meet, Marry, Murder.’
