Bartolo “Buddy” Valastro Jr., known for starring on the reality TV series ‘Cake Boss’ had a horrific bowling accident the other day and underwent multiple surgeries to fix the damage on his dominant hand.

A representative for Valastro told PEOPLE:
“There was a malfunction with the bowling pinsetter, a common fix in the past, but it turned into a terrible accident. After trying to release the bowling pin from the cage mechanism, his right hand became lodged and compressed inside the unit.”
The representative added that it would be a tough period for the TV personality and baker, and continued:
“Unable to remove his hand, he can see a 1-1/2 metal rod slowly and repeatedly impale his hand three times between his ring finger and middle finger. It will be an uphill battle as it’s Buddy’s dominant right hand and he will need prolonged recovery and therapy.”
A shortly after sharing the news, many of Valastro’s celebrity chef friends jumped into the comment section to wish of a speedy recovery in the comments.
