Carrie-Anne Moss Admits She Was Warned Constantly Not To Leak ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ Details

‘The Acolyte’ premiered on Disney+ on June 4.

Carrie-Anne Moss recently sat down for a chat with ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ to talk about her role as Jedi master Indara in ‘The Acolyte.’ She commented on the secrecy surrounding the show during its filming:

“It was unusual. Like, I wasn’t used to that. Because I’d been in other big stuff. But when you walk out of your trailer and go to set, you have to cover your costume, and I would forget.”

The actress confirmed that the measure was against photographers that wanted a snap of the cośtume:

“We were on a studio which didn’t really make a lot of sense to me, but I guess people want pictures really badly. So, I would often forget, and so someone would run after me and throw a robe over me, and I’d be like, ‘Oh! I’ll remember tomorrow.’ Then, I would forget.”

Being In ‘Star Wars’ Is Different From ‘The Matrix,’ She Says

Carrie-Anne Moss previously appeared in another sci-fi franchise, ‘The Matrix.’ Her role as Trinity became the inspiration for Indara in ‘The Acolyte,’ and the actress got similar vibes from working on the two projects. She told Empire in May:

“Talking to [Leslye Headland], she’s so creative and able to articulate her vision very clearly. You feel that way occasionally, where you have someone that has created a story – when you talk to them, you know right away. I felt that a few times in my career with some of the big things that I’ve done: ‘Memento,’ ‘The Matrix.’ You’re talking to the filmmaker and just go, ‘Oh, they totally get it.’ They know it so well that I trust them. And you don’t always feel that – it’s kinda rare actually. It’s a pleasure to sign on and be a part of that.”

Moss also mentioned some differences:

“This was very different though, because I was by myself. I had always done [The Matrix] with my co-stars, and there’s a certain energy. [On ‘The Acolyte’] I was on my own, with my team, which was great because I got to ignite and access a part of myself. I was like, ‘I want to do everything.’ I loved it more than I can remember loving doing something in a long time. ‘I’m strong. I can learn this. I can show up, and I can find that containment.’”

The Disney+ Show’s Plot and Team

‘The Acolyte’ is set at the end of the Star Wars franchise’s High Republic era, about 100 years before ‘Episode I – The Phantom Menace.’ The series features a respected Jedi Master solving a series of crimes that link him with a former Padawan.

The cast includes Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Dafne Keen, Rebecca Henderson, and Charlie Barnett. Leslie Headland writes and directs.
