Chad Michael Murray Shows Support For ‘One Tree Hill’ Sequel, ‘I Want This For The Fans’

In the original, Murray played Lucas, the half-brother of James Lafferty’s Nathan Scott.

In a recent chat with Deadline, Chad Michael Murray said he’s all for a ‘One Tree Hill’ sequel.

“I really want some iteration of this show to come back for the fans,” the actor explained. “I’ll tell you, whatever iteration of the show comes forward, I want that for the fans. There’s such a brotherhood and a bond between so many people all around the world with us. I’m grateful for that.”

A ‘One Tree Hill’ sequel is in the works. In August, it was announced that Netflix is developing a reboot with some original stars set to return. Britt Robertson joked that she’s trying to get Murray to join the sequel because her mom loves the show, but Murray hasn’t shared anything.

In August, Deadline said Murray wasn’t likely to be involved, and he hasn’t given any updates since. Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton will return as Brooke and Peyton, now parents to teens.

They face challenges similar to those in the original show, like love and grief. No other original cast members are confirmed yet. Danneel Ackles might return as Rachel and will produce the sequel with her husband Jensen Ackles through their Chaos Machine company.

‘One Tree Hill’ aired for nine seasons on The WB and The CW. The show was set in Tree Hill, North Carolina, and began with the rivalry between half-brothers Lucas and Nathan. It later focused on friendships, relationships, and family drama.

Burton played Peyton Sawyer, Bush played Brooke Davis, and Ackles played Rachel Gatina. Bush, Burton, and Lenz hosted the ‘One Tree Hill’ rewatch podcast, ‘Drama Queens.’ Burton left after Season 6 because her character was no longer on the show. Robert Buckley, who joined in Season 7, is now the third host.
