Well-known television host and comedian Chelsea Handler launched her new stand-up titled ‘Chelsea Handler: Evolution’ on October 23, through HBO Max.
Hours before the release, Handler took to Instagram and shared a post to inform the world that she had been back on the stand-up comedy stage. Alongside a series of photos and videos of herself, including a snap that sees her wearing a bra, she released a message that reads:
“It’s here…my first stand-up special in 6 years! 🤸🏼♀️
Handler, who was inspired by therapies she got over the past years to create this “most personal” show, continued her message:
“This was my effort to show you that we can all be ugly, beautiful, gritty, AND loveable. This is my personal story of trial and error with therapy, drugs, and those god damn veterinarians.”
The 45-year-old comedian concluded her message by delivering the big news regarding the show that was filmed at the Central Railroad Station:
“You may not want to actually get on a plane right now, but tune in with your top off instead, and come all the way to Jersey City with me for something special: my special! #ChelseaHandlerEvolution on @hbomax”
Handler also told Entertainment Weekly that she really wanted to put something out that could bring people together and make people laugh during the pandemic. She continued:
“That moment when you’re crying and you’re feeling so much and then you just go right into the laughter is a moment I’ve always wanted to be able to achieve in stand-up. I really wanted to be able to ring that bell a little bit and bring people through a real, true emotional experience but make sure everybody leaves laughing.”
An adaptation of her memoir ‘Life Will Be the Death of Me,’ ‘Chelsea Handler: Evolution,’ is now streaming on HBO Max.
