Comedian and actor Chelsea Handler was quick to react to the news regarding that the US Capitol had been stormed by pro-Trump protesters, after Joe Biden’s win in Georgia.
The comedian, who focused on how white privilege impacts the community in her Netflix special ‘Hello, Privilege. It’s Me, Chelsea,’ updated her Instagram account with an image that comparates how the US Capitol was guarded during the ‘Black Lives Matter’ protest and on January 6. As known, in summer, during the peaceful protests, The Senate was guarded by a great number of soldiers and police, while yesterday there was no sufficient guard inside and outside of the Capitol.
By criticizing the precautions the United States Government took to stop the invaders, she wrote the following message alongside the image:
“This is terrorism. This is not just white privilege, this is white supremacy. This is not a revolution, this is sedition.”
Then Handler continued by saying that she chose to condemn these demonstrations and celebrate the Senate races in Georgia. The ‘Chelsea Handler: Evolution’ star added:
“We will not allow these terrorists to undermine democracy and detract from what Georgia has shown us to be true: America shows signs of decency and intelligence…“
Handler concluded her words by thanking “mostly to Black people, as usual.” As fans might remember, the well-known comedy show star showed her support for the ‘Black Lives Matter‘ movement through social media channels and became one of the dominant voices at that time.
