Chris Evans Joins Robert Downey Jr. In ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Rumors say the two will reunite to conclude the Multiverse Saga.

The Wrap recently claimed Chris Evans has joined the cast of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ to star alongside Robert Downey Jr., who will play the villain, Doctor Doom. The report noted that the details about Evans’ role are unclear, and he has not commented on the matter yet.

Chris Evans concluded his run as Steve Rogers/Captain America in 2019’s ‘Avengers: Endgame.’ Earlier this year, he returned to Marvel as Johnny Storm from Fox’s ‘Fantastic Four’ franchise in the summer hit ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’

Speculation about another Marvel appearance by Evans has been ongoing since then. Robert Downey Jr.’s return to Marvel as Doctor Doom has fueled the rumors even more in recent months.

Currently, the MCU has a new Captain America played by Anthony Mackie. His Sam Wilson will soon carry the infamous vibranium shield in ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ scheduled for release on February 14, 2025.

Mackie is expected to appear in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ along with many other heroes from different timelines. This means Evans could potentially return as either a Marvel hero or a villain, though nothing is confirmed.

Chris Evans first appeared as Steve Rogers in 2011’s ‘Captain America: The First Avenger.’ He continued the role in sequels like ‘The Winter Soldier’ and ‘Civil War,’ as well as in four ‘Avengers’ films. Outside of Marvel, his most recent project was Amazon MGM’s ‘Red One’ with Dwayne Johnson.
