Chris Evans Reveals His Favorite Marvel Movie, And The Answer May Surprise You

Unlike what many people would think, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ are not Chris Evans’ favorite Marvel films.

During an appearance at the Emerald City Comic Con 2024, Chris Evans, also known as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, revealed his favorite Marvel movie to date.

Evans shared that contrary to popular belief, his top pick isn’t one of the blockbuster hits ‘Avengers: Endgame’ or ‘Avengers: Infinity War.’ Instead, the actor holds ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier,’ a gem from MCU’s Phase Two of ‘The Infinity Saga,’ closest to his heart:

“It’s my personal favorite Marvel movie that I was a part of. It’s not just for the movie itself, but the experience.”

Evans Was Initially Nervous About Portraying Captain America

Addressing his personal growth and the challenges he came across during the film’s production, Evans recalled the earlier days of his Marvel career, detailing how ‘The Winter Soldier’ marked a shift in his approach to playing Captain America.

He mentioned that when he first wore Captain America’s shoes, he was ‘so nervous’ that it led him to adopt a cautious approach. However, with ‘The Winter Soldier,’ the dynamics changed, allowing him and the team to take more risks:

“When ‘Winter Solider’ came around, we were playing to win. And it’s the first movie with the Russo Brothers. We were taking more risks, and the character felt more fleshed out. It was one of the more satisfying experiences I’ve had in my Marvel run.”

‘The Winter Soldier’ Was a Huge Success

Released in 2014, ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ also emerged as a critical and financial success. With a production budget of $170 million, the film grossed over $714 million worldwide. Its opening weekend alone saw a $95 million gross, with domestic and international box office revenues reaching $259.7 million and $454.6 million.

The film’s success wasn’t limited to financial gain. It was met with widespread critical acclaim, with a 90% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and an impressive 92% viewer approval rating. For those looking to revisit or discover why ‘The Winter Soldier’ holds such a special place in Evans’ heart, the film is available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Meanwhile, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is scheduled to be released on February 14, 2025, but without Evans as the titular character.
