‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ brought Chris Evans back as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch. He recently recalled getting a call from Ryan Reynolds himself to reprise the role and shared with Variety:
“I mean, honestly, I would do anything Ryan asked. He gave me a great cameo in ‘Free Guy’ already, and I just trust him completely. So, the chance to be Johnny again, I couldn’t pass up. I loved it. It was fun to shoot, fun to watch, all of it.”
The actor previously played the hero in 2005’s ‘Fantastic Four’ and 2007’s ‘Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.’
Reynolds Offered Cue Cards For Evans’ Scene
Evans showed up in a costume that suggested Captain America’s return in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ He revealed himself as The Human Torch with the catchphrase ‘Flame on!’ while Wade Wilson expected him to say ‘Avengers assemble!’
The actor also appeared in an end-credit scene, using harsh language. He explained:
“Ryan was like, ‘Listen, if we need cue cards…’ and I was like, ‘Cue cards? I’m showing up off book.’ I don’t get to say dialogue like this. Trust me. I’m going to enjoy every second of this. Memorized.”
Cameos From Other Marvel Stars
‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ also reunited Ryan Reynolds with his ‘Blade: Trinity’ co-star Wesley Snipes. Jennifer Garner and Dafne Keen reprised their Marvel roles along with the Blade actor. The hero team included Channing Tatum as Gambit, as well.
Tatum recently sent special thanks to Reynolds for having him as one of the X-Men on screen. He wrote under two photos with the actor:
“These pictures are almost 10 years apart to the day. I sat in the audience when Ryan showed his first peek of ‘Deadpool 1’ to the world, and I think I ran backstage right after and found him, and I think I just hugged him and was like, ‘Holy shit, you did it, man.’ It’s perfect. I didn’t know him really at all back then. But since then, I can say that there is almost no one that has had my back in this industry more than Ryan.”
The Marvel film’s worldwide earnings so far left the first two ‘Deadpool’ films behind with $824.1 million.
