After returning from his paradise-like getaway on a unique and untouched island before starting on the shooting of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder,’ Thor actor Chris Hemsworth started shooting the film and updated his Instagram account to celebrate Australia Day.
On Australia Day, Australian actor shared some amazing snaps from the first day of the film set as they started with a “Welcome to Country ceremony from the Gamay dancers of the Gadigal and Bidiagal Nation and performance and karakia by Maori dancers from Te Aranganui,” he explained.
The 37-year-old actor, penned down his feelings in the most sincere way for his hometown, continuing his words by explaining that many people see January 26th as a date of unfortunate and sad events with the following words:
“Indigenous Australians may be just as proud of this country, but many see January 26th as a date signifying the beginning of dispossession, disease epidemics, frontier violence, destruction of culture, exploitation, abuse, separation of families and subjection to policies of extreme social control.”
Before ending his powerful message, the actor pointed to an important aim and emphasized that as ‘First Nations people‘ they can heal all wounds with unity and solidarity creating a collective consciousness to celebrate their beautiful country with positive feelings. In his own words:
“Let’s begin the healing and stand together in unity and support with our First Nations people with solidarity and compassion. Let’s find a date where all Australians can celebrate this beautiful country together.”
Following the post, followers of the actor jumped into the comments section thanking him for using his platform to spread awareness about the Australian history.
