Chris Hemsworth Responds To Retirement Rumors After Concerning Health Risk

He wants to continue acting and has plans for more movies, including another Thor film.

Chris Hemsworth wants his fans to know the truth about his health and what he plans to do next.

Hemsworth found out he has two copies of a gene called APOE e4 a couple of years ago. This doesn’t mean he has health issues now, but it does mean he might be more likely to get Alzheimer’s disease as he gets older.

Both Hemsworth’s dad and his grandfather have the same gene. His grandfather sadly passed away from Alzheimer’s last year. Because of this, some started saying that Hemsworth was going to quit acting. He recently told Vanity Fair that’s not true, and the news made him quite upset:

“No matter how much I said ‘This is not a death sentence,’ the story became that I have dementia and I’m reconsidering life and retiring and so on. It really kind of pissed me off because it felt like I had been vulnerable with something personal and shared this.”

In the meantime, Hemsworth is taking care of himself. He’s doing more exercise, getting more sleep, and making sure he stays healthy. He knows he might face some health issues because of his genes, but he’s not worried. He says he’s going to keep acting and enjoying his work as long as he can.

He Focuses On Future Instead

Hemsworth is thinking about what movies he wants to do next rather than retiring.

He stars in ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ as Dementus, a tough leader in a wild, ruined world. This role is quite different from Thor, and Hemsworth really enjoyed doing something new:

“Ron took me out of that typecast space of the muscly action guy and let me play a character with complications and darkness. I remember thinking at the time, Oh, this is going to change everything. It’s been a long wait.”

Hemsworth also wants to make another Thor movie because he wasn’t happy with ‘Thor: Love and Thunder.’ He thinks he owes it to his fans to do better.

So, Hemsworth is not going anywhere, and he’s got some exciting projects coming up.
