Chris Pine seems very surprised to learn that Warner Bros. decided to cancel ‘Wonder Woman 3’.
Pine told Business Insider that he couldn’t understand why the studio would drop a movie series that made almost a billion dollars:
“I’m stunned that they said no to a billion-dollar franchise and decided to pivot elsewhere. I don’t know what the reasoning was behind that; it’s above my pay grade, but Wonder Woman is an incredible character; Patty is such a thoughtful director.”
Chris Pine played Steve Trevor in the first two Wonder Woman movies. He shared he didn’t expect to return in the third film because his character already died:
“No. Homie is dead. Steve is gonzo. It would be ridiculous to try to bring me back.”
Jenkins Moved On From The Franchise As Well
Patty Jenkins, who directed the previous films, said that the studio is not looking to make any more Wonder Woman films for now:
“They aren’t interested in doing any ‘Wonder Woman’ for the time being. It’s not an easy task, with what’s going on with DC. James Gunn and Peter Safran have to follow their own heart into their own plans. I don’t know what they are planning on doing or why, so I have sympathy for what a big job it is and they have to follow their heart and do what they’ve got planned.”
‘Wonder Woman 1984’ did not do as well as the first film at the box office or with critics. But there was still talk of making a third movie. Then James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the leadership at DC Studios, and plans changed.
Lynda Carter says the only way ‘Wonder Woman 3’ could happen is if fans really pushed for it. She believes that Wonder Woman deserves to have her story continue.
The first two Wonder Woman films are available on disc and digital platforms.
