Actor Chris Pratt, who gained further recognition for his role as ‘Star-Lord’ in Marvel Studios’ ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ took to Instagram in order to encourage people to vote for ‘Onward,’ the computer-animated urban fantasy-adventure film, in the 2020 People’s Choice Awards.
Pratt who voices ‘Barley Lightfoot‘ in the film directed by Dan Scanlon, produced by Kori Rae, posted an official poster of ‘Onward’ and added a caption that refers to the upcoming presidential election in the United States.
“With all that’s going on in the world, it is more important than ever that you vote. Just ask any celebrity. They will tell you. Every day. Several times a day. To vote. But me? I will tell you EXACTLY who to vote for. #onward”
The ‘Jurassic World’ star continued in the same tone:
“The heroes before us did not spill their blood only to have their sacrifices wasted by your apathy. The upcoming 2020 People’s Choice Awards is the most consequential vote in the history of mankind times a million infinity. Vote for #Onward for family movie of the year. Or else. You WILL die. No hyperbole. Click the link in my bio. Let your voice be heard.”
However, his wording made a controversy among followers. As can be seen, he used the terms and phrases that are used to urge people to vote in the 2020 United States presidential election. Followers were quick to criticize Pratt.
“I loved Onward, and I’m a big fan of Chris Pratt- but this message ain’t it. It’s easy to mock an election when your liberties aren’t at stake. For some of us, it actually is life and death” wrote, an Instagram user.
“The world is burning but let’s joke about voting. Ugh” added, another one.
