Colin Farrell’s ‘The Penguin’ May Be Darker Than ‘The Batman’

The Penguin actor was surprised by how dark the Max show got.

‘The Penguin’ is set to debut in late 2024. The limited series will follow the events from Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’ but will likely get more violent with its story than the 2022 film. Colin Farrell talked about what to expect with HeyUGuys:

“Well, tons of violence, abject darkness, and a man at great struggle to try and claw his way to the top of the power vacuum that was created at the end of ‘The Batman’ film. With the death of Carmine Falcone, there’s a power grab in Gotham now. It’s dark, man!”

The production of ‘The Penguin’ wrapped in February 2024. Farrell said showrunner Lauren LeFranc wrote ‘eight extraordinary episodes’ for the series. He commented:

“Just really, really bold stuff, I couldn’t believe that it got as dark as it gets. So that’s what to expect. It would be a hard R, if it was in the cinemas, you know?”

‘The Penguin’ And Matt Reeves’ Dark Knight Universe

The show’s trailer came out two weeks ago. Oswald Cobblepot reflected on a gangster who turned into a local legend in Gotham during a scene in the video.

The viewers got a first look at Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone and Clancy Brown as Salvatore Maroni. Michael Zegen, Clancy Brown, and Michael Kelly joined the cast as Alberto Falcone, Salvatore Maroni, and Johnny Vitti, respectively.

A possible appearance from Robert Pattinson’s Batman is unconfirmed at the moment despite early rumors. But Pattinson is set to return as the DC hero in ‘The Batman Part II.’

The sequel is expected to come out in October 2026 due to delays in schedule.
