‘Constantine 2’ producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura revealed that the movie’s script is finished, but he’s too nervous to read it.
Di Bonaventura said in a recent ComicBook interview that he’s worried about being disappointed by the script and hasn’t worked up the courage to open it yet. He did mention that he plans to read it soon, saying, “I’ll probably read it in the next few days. When I get on an airplane.”
‘Constantine 2’ is the sequel to the 2005 movie ‘Constantine.’ The sequel went through several stages of development over the years.
As for whether ‘Constantine 2’ will be part of James Gunn’s new DC Universe, it’s still up in the air. Gunn’s DC Universe is starting fresh next year with the release of ‘Superman.’ But not every DC movie will be tied to the main superhero universe. ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ and ‘The Batman: Part II’ are both separate stories. ‘Constantine 2’ might also follow this path.
In 2023, di Bonaventura said that he wasn’t deeply involved with the project and wasn’t sure how far along it was. The script is now just sitting in his inbox, waiting for him to take a look.
Di Bonaventura is also producing ‘Transformers One.’ The film comes out on September 20 and tells the origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, showing how they went from being close friends to enemies. It’s the first fully computer-animated Transformers movie and stars Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, and others.
