‘Friends’ alum Courteney Cox went to Instagram on November 20 and celebrated wrapping up production on the upcoming ‘Scream‘ franchise.
Cox posted a series of photos, including a throwback snap with the original film’s director Wes Craven and a pair of the behind-the-scenes photo which see her standing alongside co-star Neve Campbell and Williamson.
The actor captioned the photos with a heartfelt caption, which includes a tribute to Craven. In her message, Cox also revealed the official title of the film, which was named ‘Scream 5‘ by movie critics. According to what the actor said, the upcoming film carries the same name as the 1996 dated original movie, ‘Scream.’ Cox continued:
“Nearly 25 years ago, when I wrote Scream and Wes Craven brought it to life, I could not have imagined the lasting impact it would have on you, the fans.”
Then the actor, portraying ‘Gale Weathers‘ in the film series, based on the real-life case of the Gainesville Ripper, added that she is really excited for the viewers to go back to Woodsboro and get scared one more time.
The fifth installment in the slasher film series, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, started production a few months ago in North Caroline, where the Covid-19 safety protocols were practiced.
The film, starring Neve Campbell, David Arquette, Marley Shelton, Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Dylan Minnette, and Mason Gooding will be released on January 14, 2022, by Paramount Pictures.
