Although ‘Terrifier 3’ hasn’t hit theaters yet, writer and director Damien Leone is already working on ‘Terrifier 4.’
“Yes, there will be a ‘Terrifier 4,’” Leone confirmed during a Q&A at the upcoming third film’s Fantastic Fest premiere in Austin, Texas, on Thursday. He gave no further details.
The ‘Terrifier’ franchise kicked off in 2016 but received major attention only after ‘Terrifier 2’ came out in October 2022. The second film became a box office success, earning $15 million on a budget of just $250,000.
Trailers for ‘Terrifier 3’ showed David Howard Thornton’s Art the Clown back for a Christmas murder spree after losing his head in the previous sequel.
“There’s a lot of people who didn’t love the fantasy, or at least they need more explanation as to why that’s all happening,” Leone said of his plans for the third installment. “That’s why I want to course-correct a bit; let’s go back to ‘Nightmare on Elm Street Part One,’ as opposed to going further into ‘Dream Warriors.’ That could be very helpful criticism and help me make a better movie moving forward. But we’ll see.”
Familiar characters like Lauren LaVera’s Sienna, Elliot Fullam’s Jonathan Shaw, Samantha Scaffidi’s Victoria Heyes, and Chris Jericho’s Burke also returned for the new film. Daniel Roebuck joined the cast as Santa Claus along with Antonella Rose, Jason Patric, and Jon Abrahams.
‘Terrifier 3’ is set for release on October 11.
