‘Creature Commandos’ star Zoë Chao hinted at the possible resurrection of her character, Nina Mazursky, during an interview with The Direct. The actress also expressed interest in portraying Catwoman.
When asked which DC hero or villain she would like to portray in live-action or animation, Chao replied: “I’m not super well-versed yet. I study, and I shall learn, but I’ve always, I mean, this is funny because I play like a half-human, half-fish, so then when I say Catwoman, I’m like being a traitor. But I love that Catwoman is just such a martial arts genius. That feels [like it] would be right.”
The season 1 finale of ‘Creature Commandos’ saw the death of Nina Mazursky, voiced by Chao. However, this may not be the end for her character. She referred to a conversation with James Gunn, suggesting that Nina could potentially return in other ways.
“I was like, I know I’m really happy to be here, but I don’t want to get too attached because it’s not for long,” the actress shared. “Someone said, you know, she could come back in other ways. And I was like, ‘Okay, tell me more.’ Who knows? We’ll see. But, I feel very lucky that I got to play her for a season.”
DC Studios President James Gunn had previously tweeted in response to a fan question about whether the ‘Creature Commandos’ cast would be involved in live-action projects: “Some of them yes are already a part of live action plans.” With Chao’s comments, it now seems possible that Nina could be one of those characters.
Nina’s life came to a tragic end when her assassination attempt on the Princess failed. Weasel’s distraction allowed the Princess to gain the upper hand, ultimately leading to Nina being stabbed multiple times.
‘Creature Commandos,’ which aired on Max, has already been confirmed for a second season.
