There’s a lot of talk about Dafne Keen’s comeback as Laura/X-23 in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ Some claim that a scene in the recent trailer where Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine tells a ‘kid’ he’s ‘no hero’ features her.
Meanwhile, Keen avoids direct answers about her Marvel role. She recently sidestepped ComicBook.com’s questions on the matter by saying:
“How cool is it that I got to be part of something with such a huge legacy that, almost 10 years later, I’m still being asked about it? That just feels pretty huge.”
The Actress Wants X-23 To Return
Plans for a spinoff centered on Keen’s X-23 were in motion before Disney bought 20th Century Fox in 2019. The actress says she hasn’t heard any updates about those plans since then but is open to reprising her role. She told ComicBook.com in 2021:
“I’m trying not to get my hopes up too high in case it doesn’t happen, but I really do hope it does because I loved playing Laura.”
Her words went on:
“She holds a very special place in my heart and she’s an incredible character. And to be fair, the whole Deadpool 3 situation really, really made me, happy because, obviously when Disney bought Fox, I suspected they weren’t going to do any more R-rated films, but then greenlighting Deadpool is a great sign for other R-rated movies.”
Other X-Men Are Making A Comeback
‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ will feature Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as the leads. Previous X-Men actors, Morena Baccarin, Leslie Uggams, Rob Delaney, Brianna Hildebrand, and Shioli Kutsuna, will also return. Emma Corrin will join them as Cassandra Nova, and Matthew Macfadyen as Paradox.
Shawn Levy will direct the story by Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells. The film will see release in the US and Canada on July 26. It will be available in IMAX, RealD 3D, Dolby Cinema, and other premium screens.
