Dafne Keen Responds To Rumors About ‘X-23’ Standalone Movie

X-23 almost got her own movie.

2017’s ‘Logan’ marked Hugh Jackman’s retirement from the X-Men franchise while introducing 11-year-old Dafne Keen as his successor Laura/X-23. Keen revealed in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly that there were even plans to give her a solo movie:

“It was very much a reality that then kind of fell through. There were talks of a script being made. I’d heard it was an X-23 [movie]. I don’t know how much of what I’m saying is true because I was 11, but this is what I’d heard through the grapevine.”

She admitted getting ‘quite sad’ when the idea was shelved:

“I was like, ‘Oh well, I guess that’s it. That’s life, and I’ll have to move on’ — even though this is one of the greatest characters I’ll ever get to play, and annoyingly, I got to play her at 11! I peaked at 11.”

Keen’s Return Was A Secret Along With Others

Keen is set to reprise her Marvel role in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ on July 26. The film’s latest trailer features a scene between her and Jackman’s Wolverine.

The first teaser in May hinted at X-23’s return in a part where Wolverine told a ‘kid’ off-screen that he was ‘no hero.’ But the actress kept her cameo a secret until recently and noted having ‘a great time’ doing so.

The new MCU film also brought back other X-Men characters such as Aaron Stanford’s Pyro and possibly Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, though this is unconfirmed. New additions to the cast included Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova and Matthew Macfadyen as Paradox.
