Daisy Ridley has been a part of the sequel trilogy since ‘The Force Awakens’ in 2015. At the recent ‘Star Wars’ Celebration 2023, it was confirmed she would reprise her role as Rey in the upcoming films. But the actress had a hard time when first appearing in the franchise.
Recently, she told Clique:
“After the screening of the first film, I told myself that I was sh*t and that I was really worthless. I cried my eyes out thinking I was the worst thing that ever happened to ‘Star Wars.’ I had never seen myself in a leading role, so for me, it was something unexpected and very surprising; it overwhelmed me.”
Despite her concerns, ‘The Force Awakens’ achieved significant commercial success. It grossed more than two billion dollars at the box office and got an 8.3/10 rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
She Will Appear In More ‘Star Wars’ Films
Lucasfilm has announced three new ‘Star Wars’ movies, with Daisy Ridley in a key role. The actress’ character Rey, who ended the sequel trilogy as a Skywalker, will play a central part in these new stories.
Little is known about the upcoming film called ‘New Jedi Order,’ but it will focus on Rey’s journey, set fifteen years after ‘The Rise Of Skywalker,’ as she will be in her mid-thirties in it.
Although even the film’s title hasn’t been confirmed, the plot is expected to explore Rey’s efforts in reforming the Jedi Order. According to Kathleen Kennedy from Lucasfilm, the story will take place in a galaxy where the role of the Jedi is being questioned after years of conflict.
The Actress Is Ready To Reprise Her Role
Ridley has agreed to the project based on the plot outline, though she has yet to see the full script. Speaking about the film to Collider, she said:
“I’m very excited. The story is really cool. I’m waiting to read a script because, obviously, I don’t have any other updates. It’s not what I expected, but I’m very excited.”
The actress’ next appearance will be in the romantic comedy-drama ‘Sometimes I Think About Dying,’ ready for screening on January 26, 2024, before she returns to the ‘Star Wars’ universe.
