Daisy Ridley Shares New Update About ‘Star Wars: New Jedi Order’

She expects to read the script soon.

Daisy Ridley has an exciting update on her upcoming Star Wars movie, ‘New Jedi Order.’

Ridley recently talked about the project on the Smartless podcast with hosts Jason Bateman, Shawn Hayes, and Will Arnett. She described the project as ‘very exciting,’ saying:

“It’s very exciting, I shall be reading a script soon-ish… I think we might film next year.”

‘New Jedi Order’ Was Announced Last Year

‘New Jedi Order’ will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. It’s one of several new Star Wars projects in the works, including movies by Dave Filoni and James Mangold. These films will cover different times in the Star Wars universe — from long before the Jedi Order was founded to 15 years after the events of ‘Rise of Skywalker.’

The project has had some problems already. ‘Watchmen’ star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II was supposed to be the lead, but he left the project in April 2023. ‘Lost’s co-creator Damon Lindelof was going to co-write the film with Justin Britt-Gibson, but he also stepped away from the project.

Another Star Wars project also had a positive update. Director Shawn Levy’s film added Jonathan Trooper as the screenwriter. Levy’s project was announced before Star Wars Celebration 2023, but not much is known about it.

‘New Jedi Order’ does not have a release date yet.
