Dan Stevens Admits He Lost Control While Trolling Marvel Fans About Being In The Eternals Movie

The actor found himself in a tricky situation after playing along with rumors that he joined the MCU.

Dan Stevens recently recalled how feeding into rumors suggesting he was voicing the Deviants leader Kro in 2021’s ‘Eternals’ got out of hand after a night out with the film’s stars.

“What happened was, I was in London shooting ‘Eurovision Song Contest’ when my good friends Brian Tyree Henry and Kamal Nanjani were in London shooting ‘Eternals,’ and we went for a curry,” the actor shared with The Playlist.

“And as sometimes happens when you’re hanging out with actor friends, everyone’s like, ‘let’s take a selfie,’ and someone posted it, and in the way that only the internet can, it just was like, ‘He must be playing [Kro].’ And I was like, ‘What are you talking about?’ And so, we just had fun teasing fans for a while.”

The playful antics led to a flood of questions about Stevens’ involvement with ‘Eternals’ during his promo tours for other projects. “It did get kind of out of hand where, like, I would sit in junkets like this with something completely unconnected, and people would say, ‘So, you know, what’s it like working with Chloe Zhao?’ And I’d be like, ‘Oh, listen, let me stop you right there. This has gotten way out of hand.’ But, yeah, all that happened is we went for a friendly dinner in London,” he added.

The real voice behind Kro was ‘The Crow’ star Bill Skarsgård. Joining him in the cast were Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Salma Hayek, and Angelina Jolie.

Stevens was already familiar to Marvel fans from a different universe before the rumors. He was Charles Xavier’s mutant son, Legion, on a self-titled show on FX in 2017-2019. The actor is yet to make his MCU breakthrough, though.
