Daniel Radcliffe didn’t appear in a major franchise after the ‘Harry Potter’ films, but the possibility isn’t ruled out.
The actor recently told CBR’s Kevin Polowy that he didn’t receive many offers for such roles and rejected the ones he did because of the script. Still, he explained:
“If someone was to come to me and say, ‘We’re going to make [a franchise], we want this to be a minimum of three films,’ it would just mean that the bar for how good those scripts and how good that project would have to be would be even higher than it normally is. Just because one of the things I love about my career now is that I have a lot of freedom to do lots of different things and if I were going to get stuck into one thing for a very long time again, it would have to be for a very good reason.”
He Usually Gets Comedy Offers
Radcliffe recently reprised his role as King Jeremy Fitzhogg in Season 2 of the animated sitcom show ‘Mulligan.’ The actor noted that he started receiving more comedy offers after ‘WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story.’ He shared:
“I love that my career has gone the way it has—I get to do a bit of everything. But it’s so much fun to make a comedy, especially if you’re on it with people that you enjoy, and that you have fun playing with, like Evan [Rachel Wood] and all the cast of ‘WEIRD.’ It’s just such a great place to go to work. It’s so nice to not have to go in and, you know, cry or get covered in blood, or whatever it is. It’s just nice.”
The ‘Harry Potter’ Director Appreciates Radcliffe’s Career
Daniel Radcliffe has been active in theatre as well as different genres on screen like horror fantasy ‘Victor Frankenstein’ and survival drama ‘Jungle.’ ‘Harry Potter’ director David Yates commented on the actor’s career path in a chat with Looper by saying:
“Dan is fearless, and I’ve admired what he’s been doing. He’ll dive into any number of different roles to redefine himself. It’s admirable that he keeps trucking, and he’s done particularly well recently. So all strength to Dan, and I hope he keeps going. I’m sure he will.”
You can watch Radcliffe in ‘Mulligan’ Season 2 on Netflix.
