Drax and the other Guardians’s stories wrapped up in the MCU for now, as they said goodbye in their trilogy’s final part. The Hollywood Reporter recently asked Dave Bautista if he missed his character since the release of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.’
“No, I wouldn’t say I miss him,” Bautista explained. “What I do miss is the family environment. It’s hard knowing that we will never be on set together again. Me, Chris, Zoe, Pom, Karen, Sean Gunn, James Gunn — it’s never going to happen again. It’s hard to live with that.”
He noted, “I also never really had closure on that part of my career. Even though it’s gone and in the past, I never got to say goodbye to everyone. I never got to go to the premiere and have fun with everybody, cry, and say goodbye. I never got that.”
The original team went their separate ways at the end of the third installment in 2023 while Rocket Raccoon stayed with Groot and Kraglin to form the new Guardians.
James Gunn later made it clear that he was done with Marvel and would not direct a fourth ‘Guardians’ film, though he trusted Kevin Feige to pick the right person for the part.
Marvel didn’t mention any plans for the heroes’ return in the near future so far. In fact, Sean Gunn ruled out a possible cameo in the upcoming ‘Avengers’ films with a simple ‘no’ in March.
The studio is now focused on finishing Phase Five with the upcoming ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ and ‘Thunderbolts*.’ The new films are set to release in February and May 2025, respectively.
