Deadpool And Wolverine Director ‘Never Considered’ Patrick Stewart’s Cameo As Professor X

The director addressed rumors about potential cameos that did not happen in the new Marvel movie.

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ featured cameos from past X-Men and Fox films. But despite early expectations due to his connection to Emma Corrin’s Cassandra Nova, Patrick Stewart’s Professor X didn’t show up.

Director Shawn Levy talked about the rumors of a possible appearance from Stewart in a recent chat with the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast.

“Never even discussed,” he shared. “[He was] studied. Studied by Emma Corrin, big-time, because the Cassandra siblinghood to Professor X is really interesting to us. But, no, never discussed. Never considered.”

The majority of the original X-Men actors from 20th Century Fox were absent in the new release. The surprise appearances were mostly from villains and other characters from previous Fox/Marvel projects.

Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds were back as Wolverine and Deadpool, respectively, from different timelines. Other returning actors included Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Stefan Kapičić as Piotr Rasputin/Colossus, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Rob Delaney as Peter, and Lewis Tan as Shatterstar.

The movie also featured brief appearances from Aaron Stanford’s Pyro, Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, Wesley Snipes’ Blade, and Channing Tatum’s Gambit. Tatum later thanked Reynolds for bringing his hero to the screen after his own movie was canceled ten years ago.

The Deadpool actor wrote the script for ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ along with Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, and Shawn Levy.
