‘Deadpool’s Rob Liefeld recently shared his frustrations with Disney on social media.
Liefeld hinted that Disney has been difficult to work with, stating:
“My reps were screamed at today ‘We are NOT Fox!’ Tell me about it. Also hung up on. More soon.”
He wrote another tweet as a follow-up:
“The big corps. Seek to intimidate in all manner of ways, the little guys are always tasked with continuing to press forward despite the screaming.”
He added:
“I didn’t have Warner Bros. treating me better than Disney on my bingo card.”
Liefeld suggests that big companies like Disney often try to intimidate smaller creators. He also says that these issues are happening close to the release of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’

I didn’t have Warner Bros. treating me better than Disney on my bingo card. But there it is.

Other Artists Also Have Issues With The Company
Many comic book writers and artists had similar problems with Disney and Marvel Studios. For example, Jim Starlin, who created Thanos, Drax, and Gamora, said he made more money from a minor character’s appearance in ‘Batman v Superman’ than from his characters’ major roles in the Marvel movies:
“Just received a very big check from D.C. Entertainment for my participation in ‘Batman V Superman, Dawn of Justice’ (Anatoli Knyyazev), much bigger than anything I’ve gotten for Thanos, Gamora, and Drax showing up in any of the various Marvel movies they appeared in, combined.”
Ed Brubaker, who co-created The Winter Soldier, also shared his issues with Marvel Studios in 2021. He felt it was unfair that he didn’t get more money or recognition:
“It’s ridiculous that like being a co-creator of The Winter Soldier… I should not have to be worried about providing for my wife if I die. Like right now, I don’t live a high life…I do well…it started to feel like this kind of hurts a little bit. To be overlooked this way. I know that they’ve made deals with other people who have had less input on what they do. And I just kind of felt like, it just sucks.”
Marvel Studios reportedly did something to fix the situation after Brubaker spoke out. Liefeld might be hoping for a similar outcome.
