Disney Has Another Remake: ‘Lilo & Stitch’ Comes With A Live-Action Movie

Disney’s live-action ‘Lilo & Stitch’ arrives on Disney+ this year.

Disney fans have something new to look forward to this year.

This new version of ‘Lilo & Stitch’ has been in the works for a long time. It was first greenlit in 2018 but faced several delays. These delays resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic, a fire on set, and the strikes. As per The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is now finally ready to debut.

‘Lilo & Stitch’ remake will include new characters while keeping many of the original favorites. Pleakley, Jumba, and Cobra Bubbles will be in the film. Billy Magnussen, who plays Pleakley, shared that it’s hard to compare the live-action and animated versions, saying:

“I don’t think you can compare pieces of art to each other. I adored working with everyone in this. Rideback was the producing house making this film, and I did Aladdin with them. Again, it’s a story about connection, and a kid trying to find a friend, and all you can do is approach a project like that with love. I am so grateful and honored to be a part of that project.”

You’ll See Familiar Faces

The live-action ‘Lilo & Stitch’ will feature familiar voices and faces. Chris Sanders returns as Stitch’s voice. Maia Kealoha will play Lilo, with Elizebeth Agudong as her sister Nani. David Kawena, Nani’s love interest, will be played by Kaput Dodoit.

The movie also stars Zack Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, and Courtney B. Vance in unspecified roles. Tia Carrere, who voiced Nani in the animated film, will play a new character named Mrs. Kekoa. Amy Hill, who voiced Mrs. Hasagawa, will also return as a new character named Tūtū.

‘Lilo & Stitch’ is set to release on Disney+ in 2024.
