Disney Wants To Make Lesser MCU Releases From Now On

Bob Iger says they will be making fewer Marvel movies and TV shows each year.

Disney CEO Bob Iger plans to slow down on how many Marvel movies and TV shows they make each year.

Bob Iger said during a recent meeting about Disney’s earnings that they want to cut back on the number of Marvel projects. They used to make four TV shows a year for Disney+, but now they’ll make only two. The same goes for movies — instead of up to four Marvel movies a year, they’ll make only two or three:

“I’ve been working hard with the studio to reduce output and focus more on quality, that’s particularly true with Marvel. We’re slowly going to decrease volume and go to probably about two TV series a year instead of what had become four, and reduce our film output from maybe four a year to two or at the maximum three. And we’re working hard on what that path is.”

Some fans believe Disney was making way too many movies and shows that lacked quality. Iger now wants to turn this around and focus on making fewer but better-quality projects.

Disney Has Some Big Plans

Iger promised fans that they will find a balance between sequels and original films:

“We’re gonna balance sequels with originals. Specifically in animation, we had gone through a period where our original films and animation, both Disney and Pixar, were dominating. We’re now swinging back a bit to lean on sequels.”

They are making new ‘Avengers’ movies and other Marvel movies for 2025, like ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ ‘Thunderbolts,’ ‘The Fantastic Four,’ and ‘Blade.’ Iger says Disney is looking forward to these releases:

“We’ve got a couple of good films in ’25, and then we’re heading to more Avengers, which we’re extremely excited about.”

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ will be the only Marvel movie coming out this year.
