In a recent interview with Bloody Disgusting, Doug Bradley expressed interest in reprising his role as Pinhead in the ‘Hellraiser’ film series one last time, but with his own idea.
During the conversation, Bradley suggested that an adaptation of Clive Barker’s 2015 novel, ‘The Scarlet Gospels,’ could pave the way for his return. Saying it might have to present ‘an older Pinhead,’ he explained his vision:
“If we did that, we could maybe present an older Pinhead to be aware of the fact that I am the age I am, that time and gravity does what time and gravity does. An older, darker Pinhead would intrigue me, one not so much in love with the flippant one-liners and the witty comebacks and so forth.”
‘The Scarlet Gospels‘ follows Harry D’Amour as he goes to the Underworld to confront Pinhead, who is attempting to assume the highest position in Hell. This could potentially be the end of Pinhead’s story, providing what Bradley views as ‘the perfect bookend to my life in latex.’
Jamie Clayton Portrayed Pinhead in the 2022 Reboot
Despite the series undergoing a reboot with Jamie Clayton as the Pinhead in David Bruckner’s 2022 movie, Bradley praised Clayton’s performance in the interview and admitted he remains open to the possibility of returning to the role himself:
“I certainly never say never. I’ve never said I was done with it. I’ve never said I’m retired from it.”
With no current plans announced for a follow-up to Bruckner’s ‘Hellraiser,’ the door might still be open for Bradley’s vision to come to life.
Following the success of the original film, the Hellraiser franchise expanded to include nine sequels and a reboot, alongside plans for a television series reportedly in development at HBO.
