Douglas Smith Joins Superman & Lois Final Season Cast As Jimmy Olsen

A new face is joining the DC universe on The CW. The network has announced that a well-known DC character will be part of their lineup.

The upcoming fourth and final season of ‘Superman & Lois,’ set to air this fall, will see Douglas Smith stepping into the role of the Daily Planet photographer Jimmy Olsen. According to TVLine, this version of Jimmy will be an outgoing and fun-loving guy in his twenties.

His character description reads:

“Despite being work colleagues with Clark, he’s been unable to get him out of his ‘awkward’ shell. Unaware of Clark’s super-secret, Jimmy’s still determined to become his pal.”

Smith’s History On Screen

Douglas Smith isn’t a stranger to the screen. He has appeared in a variety of roles, from Ben Henrickson in HBO’s ‘Big Love’ to Corey Brockfield in ‘Big Little Lies.’

On the film front, Smith played Tyson in ‘Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters’ and has a personal connection to the ‘Superman & Lois’ series through his brother Gregory Smith, who directed eight episodes.

This season marks Jimmy Olsen’s debut on ‘Superman & Lois.’ Previously, the character played a significant part in the Arrowverse, notably in ‘Supergirl,’ where Mehcad Brooks took on the role.

The Finale Is Around The Corner

‘Superman & Lois’ Season 4 is currently in production, aiming for a 2024 release. The upcoming episodes will be the last for The CW series due to James Gunn’s new plans for a DC Universe reboot.

In February, the entertainment president of The CW mentioned that ‘Superman,’ set for 2025, influenced the studio’s decision to end the show. Brad Schwartz explained:

“They don’t want a competing Superman product in the marketplace.”

The final season will see the return of the main cast, including Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent/Superman, Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane, Alex Garfin as Jordan Kent, Michael Bishop as Jonathan Kent, and Michael Cudlitz as Lex Luthor.
