During an interview with Willie Geist on ‘Sunday Today,’ Golden Globe Award-winning actor Drew Barrymore, opened up about her divorce from ex-husband Will Kopelman. Throughout the show, the ‘Fever Pitch’ star, who divorced from Kopelman in 2016 after four years of marriage, candidly mentioned that she still found the divorce painful.
The actor first said that she did not take divorce well; she took it really hard, and continued:
“It took me five years to be able to speak with strength, articulation, perspective, hindsight, and see everything we did right. Because when we were getting divorced, it felt like everything was just wrong. I think that applies to everyone who thinks that something will be forever and it’s not.”
Then she teared up while speaking and admitted that she could not recover from the divorce. Because of that, she can’t think about getting married again.
“I don’t know how to open that up again. It’s like something closed, and it stayed closed. I think I’m equally as scared to find love again as I would be as if it never happened.”
The actor also said that she and art consultant Kopelman were good at co-parenting even though they split. According to what she said, for the sake of their family & children, they get together, unite, and connect all the time.
“I know from not growing up with any family whatsoever that that was the last thing I wanted to do for my daughters.”
As fans may remember, Barrymore and Kopelman began dating in 2011, and the couple announced their engagement in January 2012. The same year they married and welcomed their first child Olivia. After two years, the couple had a second child, Frankie.
