HBO has officially confirmed a second season for ‘Dune: Prophecy.’ The series finale for Season 1 is set to air on Sunday, December 22, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The debut episode was a major success for HBO and Max, drawing nearly 15 million viewers on Max. ‘Dune: Prophecy’ is an HBO Original series co-produced with Legendary Television.

‘Dune: Prophecy’ draws inspiration from the novel ‘Sisterhood of Dune’ by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. Set 10,000 years before Paul Atreides’ rise, the story follows two Harkonnen sisters as they face forces threatening humanity’s future and lay the foundation for the Bene Gesserit.
‘Dune: Prophecy’ is set 10,000 years before the original Dune novels by Frank Herbert. The series will explore the origins of a group of psychic women who manipulate the Imperium from behind the scenes, known as the Bene Gesserit. It also focuses on the rise of Paul Atreides, who was played by Timothée Chalamet in the recent films.
The series will feature themes of sex, war, politics, and psychic powers. It centers around two Harkonnen sisters (Watson and Olivia Williams) trying to protect humankind’s future. Mark Strong will portray Emperor Javicco Corrino. He is an ancestor of the character played by Christopher Walken in ‘Dune: Part Two.’
Alison Schapker serves as showrunner and executive producer for the series, which boasts an impressive ensemble cast including Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Camilla Beeput, Jihae, Tabu, Charithra Chandran, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning, and Yerin Ha.
