Dwayne Johnson Announces That He Is One Of The Owners Of The XFL

Actor and retired wrestler Dwayne Johnson, who is also known as The Rock, has purchased the football league, XFL, with Dany Garcia and Gerry Cardinale’s RedBird Capital.

One of the highest-grossing actors of all time gave the news through his verified Instagram account. Johnson released a post reads “XFL DWAYNE JOHNSON OWNER” and captioned it as follows:

“I’ll start this post with a heartfelt & excited, THANK YOU for the incredible responses I’ve been seeing from you all day. With my trailblazing partner @DanyGarciaCo & RedBird Capital’s Gerry Cardinale – we have acquired the XFL.”

As might be known, the league was shut down due to the coronavirus breakout and was headed towards a bankruptcy auction after that.

The newly owner Johnson, “one of the greatest professional wrestlers and biggest wrestling draws of all time” continued:

“With gratitude & passion, I’ve built a career with my own two hands and will apply these callouses to building our @xfl brand to create something special for the fans. My dreams of playing professional football never came true, however – this passion venture allows me to create opportunities for other players to showcase their talents, take care of their families and make their own dreams come true. Now, my partners and I go to work – for the love of football.”

The football league was founded by WWE CEO Vince McMahon in 2018.
