In a new interview with People, Emilia Clarke talked about reasons for not watching ‘House of the Dragon.’
The series returned for its second season but the actress continues to avoid watching it:
“I still can’t. I just don’t know what it is.”
Clarke added:
“I feel so content and happy with what my experience was, that I think watching the new one would just feel so odd, I think.”
Clarke’s Earlier Comments On The Series
Emilia also said she loves the spinoff and is thrilled about its success. Clarke became famous for playing Daenerys Targaryen on HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ for eight seasons. ‘House of the Dragon,’ a prequel about Daenerys’ ancestors, feels too personal for Clarke to watch. She also told Variety last year:
“No! Can you [forgive me]? It’s too weird. I’m so happy it’s happening. I’m over the moon about all the awards… I just can’t do it. It’s so weird. It’s so strange. It’s kind of like someone saying, ‘You want to go to this school reunion that’s not your year? Want to go to that school reunion?’ That’s how it feels. I’m avoiding it.”
Did Kit Harington Watch The Show?
Clarke can’t watch the show, but another ‘Game of Thrones’ actor Kit Harington hasn’t ruled out streaming the ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel. He previously said he’s tried to watch ‘House of the Dragon’ but can’t watch it all at once:
“I’ve seen the first few episodes… I loved it, I think they’ve done a fantastic job with it… It’s hard for me to watch because I lived in it for so long. There’s a pain there, you know? So I’m working my way through it slowly… You’re watching a lot of people in your costumes!”
‘House of the Dragon’ is set nearly 200 years before ‘Game of Thrones’ and follows the events leading to the fall of House Targaryen. It starts about 100 years after the Targaryen conquest united the Seven Kingdoms, and 172 years before Daenerys is born.
