Emma Corrin Puts 100% Trust In ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Success

Corrin thinks the upcoming Marvel film will redefine the genre.

Emma Corrin spoke about playing Cassandra Nova in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ as well as the film’s expected box office performance in a recent chat with GQ. The actor said the new ‘Deadpool’ sequel had potential for big success, thanks to Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy’s vision:

“There’s a lot of pressure on it, but I think that it’s the right one at the right time. Because it’s Deadpool, and Deadpool has always broken the mold, right? That’s why Ryan is a literal genius… While the genre has been incredibly safe, and at the moment, it’s on the rocks, people come in and blow it out of the water again.”

The Director Says The ‘Deadpool’ Sequel Is Different From Other MCU Films

There have been concerns about the Marvel franchise’s future after less successful releases like ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ and ‘The Marvels.’ But expectations are high for ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ Shawn Levy thinks the film can ‘save the MCU.’ He told Total Film last month:

“We had no idea it would be this unique moment where people are asking what the MCU means anymore. Can it surprise us? Can it break molds in ways that we don’t expect? We certainly hope that this movie is an answer to those questions.”

The director explained:

“What Kevin Feige has built with the MCU is historic as far as a string of successes, but culture has its tide chart, culture has ebbs and flows, and one thing we do know is you can’t keep doing the same thing ad nauseum and expect people to greet it with the same excitement. And so, it just worked out really fortuitously because our movie is not like any MCU movie. Yeah, and I say that as a fan of a lot of MCU movies.”

The Marvel Actors Will Soon Team Up For More Projects

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ will likely attract a large audience thanks to the X-Men’s return and bring in about $500 million worldwide on its opening weekend. Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool will share the screen for the first time since 2009’s ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine.’

The two have plans to collaborate on another project following the Marvel film. Reynolds recently told Entertainment Weekly:

“We have one we’re looking to do soon. I would say that ours is like any relationship that is successful and works: It’s that two parties are rooting for each other. I’m always rooting for Hugh to score and win. I also know the infinite nuance of his heart and his mind and who he is. I can say firsthand that he’s a person who’s not just worth rooting for, he’s somebody who’s impossible to not root for.”

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is set for release on July 26, 2024.
