In the shifting sands of Marvel’s future projects, under Bob Iger’s guidance at Walt Disney Company, many anticipated movies have been put on hold or canceled. Amid these changes, there’s a glimmer of hope for ‘Eternals 2.’
Rumors from a semi-reliable insider on X, ‘MyTimeToShineH,’ suggest ‘Eternals 2’ is being reimagined into ‘another project.’ This could mean the Eternals joining forces with big-name characters like Thor or the Guardians of the Galaxy, or possibly stepping into supporting roles in another film.
Fans Are Ready To Welcome The Team Back In Some Form
2021’s ‘Eternals’ didn’t perform as well as expected at the box office, especially being released during the pandemic. The original movie also received mixed reviews, being Marvel’s first ‘rotten’ project. Still, the thought of revisiting the immortal heroes’ story has excited a part of the audience. One fan shared online:
“Out of all the listed characters that are reportedly not getting additional movies, I feel the Eternals needed a sequel. It really wasn’t that terrible, and with better writing, they could do a proper send-off or merge into other areas of the MCU to appear as cameos.”
Others expected to see the characters as part of other MCU projects rather than leading their own movie:
“It’s canceled as a movie. There will never be an ‘Eternals: The Eternals Strike Back.’ Will they be in future ‘Fantastic Four,’ ‘X-Men,’ or ‘Guardians’ movies? Of course.”
What May The Plans Be For The Eternals?
The ending of the first ‘Eternals’ film left many questions unanswered, with the team being taken away from Earth by Arishem after stopping a celestial’s birth.
Meanwhile, Marvel Studios filed several trademarks before last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, including ‘Celestials: End Of Time.’ This might put the Eternals and other celestial beings into the new stories in the Multiverse Saga, maybe making them cross paths with the Fantastic Four, whose movie will likely bring Galactus to the fold.
In addition, the dead Celestial’s remains is likely to play a role in ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ possibly introducing Adamantium to the MCU.
