Actress Natalie Portman, and the founder of WeAngelCity, Kara Nortman took action to bring the National Women’s Soccer League team to the Los Angeles area in 2022. The team, named Angel City, brings the league to 11 teams.
Also, the group, whose aim is showing off woman’s success in the field, features former U.S. women’s national team stars including Mia Hamm, Abby Wambach, and Julie Foudy; celebrities including Eva Longoria, Jennifer Garner, Jessica Chastain, and Uzo Aduba; and businesswomen including Kara Nortman, Julie Uhrman, and Alexis Ohanian.
Concerning the event, Natalie Portman released a throwback photo and expressed her excitement on Instagram through the following statement:
“I couldn’t be more excited to announce that the #NWSL is coming to LA (…) We can’t wait to bring positive change on and off the field! #LFG”
For the same reason, the ‘Orange Is the New Black’ actress Uzo Aduba took to Instagram and posted ‘Angel City’ video. She captioned it as follows:
“Change is made by game-changers. The world’s most popular sport, played by the best players, is taking flight. I am so proud to be part of this illustrious group, bringing this team to Angel City. Follow along as athletes become legends, welcome to the beginning.”
As for actress Jennifer Garner, she also shared the same promotion video and expressed how much happy she is for being on a team with a crew of ladies and added:
“We cannot wait to share @weareangelcity women’s soccer with all of you in 2022! ♥️”
The other actress Jessica Chastain contributed to the event by saying this is an organization that women support other women. She continued on Instagram along with a TBT video:
“So excited to stand alongside my sisters in bringing a new generation of women’s soccer to Los Angeles.”
