Actress Eva Longoria, best known for her role as ‘Gabrielle Solis’ on the TV series ‘Desperate Housewives,’ showed her support for the documentary, ‘Gather’ produced by actor Jason Momoa, with an Instagram post.
Longoria announced the release of the film, which is centered on the four different tribes’ members who try to reclaim or preserve their cultural traditions in America, and recommended her eight million followers to watch it.
Alongside the official poster of ‘Gather,’ Longoria wrote on Instagram:
“I’m really excited to announce that @mrsanjayr, @immokalee.workers, and @daviddamianf just released a follow up to Food Chains, called GATHER (@gatherfilm), produced by the amazing Jason Momoa @prideofgypsies.”
Longoria, who is also a filmmaker and producer, praised the said documentary as follows:
“This film just received a Critic’s Pick from the @NYTimes! It’s a portrait of the growing movement amongst Indigenous Americans to reclaim their spiritual and cultural identities through food sovereignty over their ancestral food systems. I’m so excited to watch it!”
Regarding the film, directed by Sanjay Rawal, New York Times’ Lovia Gyarkye wrote in a recent review:
“The film wonderfully weaves personal stories with archival footage that contextualizes the continued violence against Native Americans. Rawal covers a substantial amount of ground and deftly balances the dense material without losing sight of the mission driving the bigger story: Healing from generational trauma sometimes starts with just one person.”
The film is available now on iTunes, Amazon, and Vimeo on Demand.
